Cristiano Ronaldo declines a stint in the FIFA Club World Cup for a “good rest” as he braces for World Cup 2026.

RONALDO DECLINES CLUB WORLD CUP TO PICK REST AFTER SIGNING AL NASSR EXTENSION

Moreover, FIFA president Gianni Infantino stressed there were discussions for the Portugal team captain to play even if Al Nassr failed to qualify.

“I had some offers to play in the [Club] World Cup but I think it didn’t make sense because I prefer to have a good rest, a good preparation,” Ronaldo said.

He added that the Saudi Pro League will be a long season “as it is the World Cup season at the end of the year.”

AL NASSR, PORTUGAL NATIONAL TEAM REMAIN AS RONALDO’S PRIORITIES

Al Nassr and the Portugal men’s national team are Ronaldo’s priorities at this stage of his career.

Moreover, the forward signed a two-year contract with Al Nassr that the team announced on Thursday.

Furthermore, the A Selecao team captain has committed to stay with Al Nassr even after his 42nd birthday and in time for World Cup 2026.

“I want to be ready not only for Al Nassr but also for the national team. So, this is why I decided to play the last game for the Nations League and not listen to anything,” Ronaldo said.

“And of course, to be in this club, which I love,” he added.

CRISTIANO VOWS TO HELP AL NASSR WIN MAJOR TROPHY, SAUDI PRO LEAGUE CROWN

Ronaldo vows to help Al Nassr win a major trophy, if not a Saudi Pro League title during the course of his new deal.

Furthermore,  Ronaldo cited his priority is to help Al Nassr win a major trophy.

Moreover, the forward is convinced he will make a champion out of his Saudi Pro League team, thus his reason to re-sign with Al Nassr.

“My goal, it’s always to win something important for Al-Nassr. And of course I still believe in that,” Ronaldo said.

“This is why I renewed the two years more because I believe that I will be a champion in Saudi Arabia,” he added.
