GAIKWAD SAYS DHONI MADE HINTS LAST YEAR
Gaikwad acknowledged that Dhoni hinted to him about his plan to yield the leadership role for CSK before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.
“Mahi Bhai (Dhoni) hinted saying be ready, it should not come as a surprise,” Gaikwad recalled among his conversations with his veteran teammate.
“When we came into the camp, he made me involved in some of the practice match simulations,” he added.
GAIKWAD, RCB CAPTAIN FAF CHATTED BEFORE SEASON OPENER
The new CSK skipper also admitted that he had a conversation with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Faf Du Pleiss on the eve of their match.
“I met Far and told him a few years ago who would’ve thought you would’ve been playing for RCB, you and me sharing the stage at the toss,” Gaikwad said.
“A lot to look forward to. It is one of the most exciting first-day games to look forward to,” he added.
Gaikwad’s CSK and Faf’s RCB are in the spotlight in the IPL 2024 season opener in Chennai on Friday.
