SABALENKA BECOMES FOURTH WOMAN TO REACH 10,000 OR MORE WTA RANKING POINTS
Sabalenka becomes the fourth woman to reach 10,000 or more WTA ranking points after the latest list was released on Monday.
Furthermore, the 26-year-old Belarussian world No.1 garnered 10,541 total points to pull away from the WTA top spot away from No.2 Iga Swiatek of Poland.
Moreover, Sabalenka collected 1,000 points after winning the Miami Open title over the weekend, beating American Jessica Pegula in the finals.
The Belarussian now follows Serena Williams (2015), Ashleigh Barty (2021), and Swiatek (60) in that distinguished club.
Incidentally, Swiatek had the longest run at 60 weeks ranging from 2022-2024 where she kept 10,000 ranking points or more.
CLAY SEASON MAY SLOW DOWN POWER-HITTING BELARUSSIAN
The upcoming claycourt season, however, may slow down the hard-hitting Belarussian tennis star.
Moreover, Sabalenka was competitive in all four clay events she played last year but she didn’t win any single one.
Furthermore, she reached the finals on two occassions (Madrid and rome), and two quarterfinals (Stuttgart and Roland Garros) stints.
Aside from the hardcourts, Sabalenka is expected to thrive at grass, where she aims to add another Wimbledon title to her collection.
She missed last year’s tournament at the All England Club due to a shoulder injury.

SWIATEK, GAUFF BATTLE FOR SECOND PLACE; THREE AMERICANS IN TOP 10
Swiatek and No.3 Coco Gauff, meanwhile, are way behind Sabalenka, as they jostle for second place for the meantime.
Furthermore, the Polish No.2 slowed down in her chase of Sabalenka after she was upset in the Miami quarterfinals by Alexandra Eala from the Philippines.
Moreover, Gauff also did not take advantage, as she also lost early in South Florida.
The Florida resident has another matter to focus on, as she battles No.4 Pegula and No.5 Madison Keys as the best American in the WTA list.
Italy’s Jasmine Paolini is at No.6, followed by Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva, China’s Qinwen Zheng, Spain’s Paula Badosa, and Russian-born Kazakhstani Elena Rybakina.
