SANTNER TO TAKE OVER AS BLACK CAPS WHITE-BALL CAPTAIN REPLACING WILLIAMSON
Expect Santner to take over as the Black Caps’ white-ball captain replacing Kane Williamson.
Furthermore, Williamson stepped down after the T20 World Cup earlier this year.
Moreover, the captain will start on his role in his team’s three-match home ODI series against Sri Lanka on December 28.
He will also take on the role in his first major event – Champions Trophy 2025 in February and the 2026 Two World Cup.
The 32-year-old carries an impressive resume with 107 one-day internstionals (ODI) and 106 T20is.

Moreover, the full-time appointment to both white-ball formats is a “huge honor,” says Santer.
He noted that is is a “privilege” to lead New Zealand.
Furthermore, he is thrilled to take on “a new challenge” for his country.
“It’s obviously a huge honor and a privilege to be asked,” Santner said.
“It’s a new challenge and I’m excited to get stuck into the important period of white-ball cricket that we have ahead of us,” he added.
Santner noted that leading his country in two formats is “special” for him since he envisioned it as a kid.
COACH STEAD VOUCHES FOR NEW CAPTAIN AND NOT ADDING TO LATHAM’S WORKLOAD
Furthermore, coach Gary Stead vouched for Santner.
He noted that he doesn’t want to add to Tom Latham’s workload as a Test captain.
Moreover, the coach described Santner as a “fantastic team man” who “leads by example.”
“Mitch is a fantastic team man and leads by example in all facets of the game,” Stead said.
“In Tom, we have an accomplished and experienced captain who has led the side admirably across all three formats,” he added.
Santner hopes to carry the momentum of his Player of the Match performances against India in Pune.
He also won for the same honor againdt England in Hamilton for next year.
