SINNER AGREES TO 3-MONTH BAN, TELLS WADA OF HIS ‘PARTIAL RESPONSIBILITY’

Sinner agrees to a three-month ban on tennis in an interesting twist from his doping saga that dogged him since last year.

Furthermore, the world No.1 admitted to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) that he had “partial responsibility” for his team’s mistakes that led to this doping controversy.

Moreover, the 23-year-old reigning Australian Open champion told WADA that he “had no intent and did not derive any competitive advantage from the two tests” of clostebol.

It was that banned substance where the Italian was tested positive twice in March last year.

Meanwhile, Sinner’s ban will cover from February to May 4 this year.

PTPA SLAMS UNACCEPTABLE BIAS’ IN IMPOSING BAN

The Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) slammed what it described as “unacceptable bias” in imposing Sinner’s ban.

Moreover, players’ union founded by former world No.1 Novak Djokovic questioned Sinner’s legal team’s settlement with the WADA.

Furthermore, the PTPA sees this deal as showing an inconsistent treatment for players who have failed in drug tests.

“No matter who you root for, several things are now clear. The ‘system’ is not a system. It’s a club,” the PTPA said in a statement.

“Supposed case-by-case discretion is, in fact, merely cover for tailored deals, unfair treatment, and inconsistent rulings,” it added.

KYRGIOS, FORMER PLAYERS QUESTION RULING

Australian player Nick Kyrgios and several former players questioned the ruling.

Furthermore, the former Wimbledon finalist described Sinner’s ban as a “sad day for tennis.”

Moreover, he noted the ban benefits the Italian since “no titles lost, no prize money exist.

Sinner is still primed to play in the French Open on May 25, as he seeks his first clay major at Roland Garros.

“Obviously Sinner’s team have done everything in their power to just go ahead and take a three-month ban, no titles lost, no prize money lost,” Kyrgios said.

“Didn’t realise you could reach a settlement regarding a doping ban… Interesting. Back in time for French Open I guess?” British player Liam Broady added on social media.

Meanwhile, former British No.1 Tim Henman described the decision as “a little bit too convenient.”
