SINNER TRIUMPHS OVER AMERICAN FOE IN FIRST MATCH SINCE DOPING CASE RESULT

“It has been very positive. I was very glad how the support was, also playing against an American… it’s a little bit different,” Sinner said.
“So I’m happy now with how I handled the situation; it was not easy,” he added.
ALCARAZ WINS OVER AUSTRALIAN QUALIFIER AS TSITSIPAS FALLS
Moreover, in his opening match at Flushing Meadows, Alcaraz defeated Australian qualifier Li Tu 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
Furthermore, the Spanish world No.3 had to cope with errors in the second set to bounce back before retaking the match over Tu.
“Obviously, he (Tu) surprised me a bit. He started the match a little nervous, but after the first set, he grew up, and he started to play great tennis,” Alcaraz said.
“Now I’m going to follow him and his results because I’m pretty sure I’m going to be seeing him around very, very soon,” he added.
On the other hand, No.11 Stefanos Tsitsipas absorbed a 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 upset loss to Thanasi Kokkinakis.
It was Kokkinakis’ first US Open victory since 2019.
DANIELLE COLLINS TURNS DOWN ON-COURT RETIREMENT CEREMONY AFTER LOSS

“So I’m not great, honestly, at having an all-about-me moment. I just… would prefer to do something like that, maybe in private,” Collins said.
“But I feel like I’ve gotten enough attention to last a lifetime,” she added.
