SMARAN DOUBLE CENTURY FEAT ECHOES COACH’S PREVIOUS ASSESSMENT
A Smaran double century feat he completed for Karnataka against Punjab echoed his former coach Syed Zabiulla’s assessment on him.
Furthermore, Syed described the 21-year-old a “mixture of a stroke-maker and a hard-hitter” who could pose problems for the opposition.
Moreover, Smaran’s childhood coach recalled their days in junior cricket when his trajectory was headed for the Vijay Hazare Trophy knockouts.
“He (Smaran) is a mixture of a stroke-maker and a hard-hitter. If he has to hang on, he will depend on his strokes,” Syed said.
“On the loose balls, he will show his hard-hitting skills,” he added.

Moreover, the youngster continued his meteoric rise in India’s domestic cricket through the Vijay Hazare Trohpy and CK Nayudu Trophy.

His performance in the Ranji Trophy match at Bengaluru on Friday helped Karnataka get a massive lead of 316 runs when he reached his double ton.
Karnataka eventually tallied a total score of 416/6.
Smaran has already tallied 600 runs, including three centuries in five first-class games, nine List A matches, and seven T20I appearances.
FATHER TAKES PRIDE IN SON’S ‘ENERGY’ IN GOOD USE
Furthermore, Smaran’s father Ravichandran takes pride in his son’s “energy” at such a young age that he decided to put him at a cricket academy.
Moreover, the father still wanted his son to pursue his studies and follow his footsteps as an engineer but admitted that “cricket and science may not go well.”
“We found a cricket academy nearby… From the age of 10, for the sake of keeping him busy, we put him in that academy,” Ravichandran said.
But Zabiualla insisted that Smaran saw utmost potential the moment the youngster went to Karnataka’s U-14 team onwards.
“When he played Karnataka U-14, I knew that he is going to be the Karnataka middle-order bat going forward,” the coach said.
