Gyokeres plays down Manchester United rumors
The Sweden international has been targeted by several European clubs, including Man United, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Reports also suggested that Gyokeres could follow former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
However, Gyokeres insisted that he wants to stay with the Portuguese club.
“It’s not something I think about, nor something I care about,” he said.
“These are rumours, nothing concrete. Of course I want to finish the season at Sporting, I enjoy my time there. I don’t feel stressed about making a change in the future. We’ll see when the time comes.”
Sad to see Amorim left Sporting
Amorim signed a contract with United until June 2027.
The 39-year-old is set to start his tenure at Old Trafford with a match against Ipswich Town at Portman Road this Sunday.
Gyökeres played down reports about his possible reunion with Amorim.
“He [Amorim] probably already has strikers there,” Gyokeres said. “It’s very sad that he left [Sporting], but of course we understand the decision. He meant a lot to me, as he gave me an opportunity and helped me evolve a lot.
“Now we are looking forward to working with the new coach [João Pereira].”
Gyokeres netted a league-high 29 goals to help Sporting win the Primeira Liga title last season.
He also scored a hat-trick in Sporting’s 4-1 Champions League victory over Manchester City on November 5.
