SWIATEK REACHES FRENCH OPEN FINAL AFTER BEATING GAUFF

World No.1 Swiatek reached the French Open final after beating Coco Gauff, 6-2, 6-4, in their semifinals matchup on Thursday.

Interestingly, Swiatek claimed five of the last six games after trailing 3-1 in the first set to finish off Gauff.

The win extended Swiatek’s winning streak to 20 games in Paris.

“For sure it was intense. I’m happy I just was consistent with my tactics and didn’t overthink stuff and just went for it at the end,” the world No.1 said.

Swiatek will next face No.12 Jasmine Paolini of Italy, a 6-3, 6-1 winner over unseeded 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva of Russia in the other semifinal match.

SINNER-ALCARAZ FACEOFF SET IN FRENCH OPEN MEN’S SEMIS OFFERING

Furthermore, the Jannik Sinner-Carlos Alcaraz faceoff is set in the men’s singles semifinals set on Friday.

The matchup will feature two youthful and rising stars who are ready to take the throne from world No.1 Novak Djokovic.

With Djokovic’s withdrawal at Roland Garros due to an injury, Sinner will ascend to world No.1 after the tournament.

Interestingly, Sinner and Alcaraz are 4-4 in their head-to-head matchup.

Interestingly, Sinner won their lone clay-court battle so far in 2022.,

World No.4 Alexander Zverez will take on No.7 Casper Ruud in the other semifinal.

FIRST-TIME DUO SIEGEMUND, ROGER-VASSELIN CLAIM MIXED DOUBLES TITLE

First-time pair Laura Siegemund and Edouard Roger-Vasselin defied the odds to claim the mixed doubles title.

Siegemund and Roger-Vasselin defeated Desirae Krawczyk and Neal Skupski, 6-4, 7-5, in the final.

It was the first tournament Siegemund and Roger-Vasselin played together.

Siegemund, a 36-year-old from Germany won the US Open mixed doubles with a different partner in 2016 and women’s doubles in 2020.

For the 40-year-old Roger-Vasselin of France, this win was his first mixed doubles trophy.

His other major title listed as the French Open men’s doubles crown in 2014.
