Pakistan needs a “major surgery” after its men’s cricket team lost against India in the T20 World Cup in New York over the weekend.

PAKISTAN ‘MAJOR SURGERY’ NEEDED, SAYS PCB CHAIRMAN NAQVI

Pakistan will have to undergo a “major surgery” after the team absorbed a six-run loss against India on Sunday.

Furthermore, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi cited the Pakistani batters for consuming only 59 dot balls while chasing a 120-run target.

“It appears that we have to go for major surgery,” Naqvi said.

“A big surgery is expected in Pakistan cricket after this World Cup,” he added.

It was Pakistan’s second straight loss after yielding to host United States earlier.

PCB NEEDS TO SEARCH FOR NEW PLAYERS BEYOND PAKISTAN TEAM, SAYS NAQVI

The PCB will need new players beyond those in the current team, said Naqvi.

“It is very disappointing the way we lost to the USA and now this loss to India,” the PCB official said.

“We need to now start looking at players beyond those in the team right now,” he added.

Furthermore, Naqvi acknowledged that “the World Cup is still on.”

However, he vowed changes are on the way for the Pakistani team.

“But obviously, we will sit down and take a look at everything,” the PCB official said.

PAKISTAN’S FATE IN T20 WORLD CUP BEYOND ITS CONTROL

Furthermore, Pakistan’s fate to advance in the T20 World Cup is beyond its control due to the twin losses.

Pakistan will need to win all of its remaining matches against Canada and Ireland but that might not be enough.

The South Asian nation will need a USA loss to both India and Ireland to entertain thoughts of advancing into the next round.

Pakistan currently holds a -0.150 net run rate, which is way lower compared to the +0.626 by the USA and +1.455 by India.

The USA can still advance even if it loses to India provided the hosts beat Ireland in its final matchup.
