TEN HAG QUESTIONS VAR CALL AFTER UNITED GETS PENALTY FROM DE LIGT, INGS COLLISION

Ten Hag questions the VAR call after United gets a penalty from a collision between Matthijs de Ligt and Danny Ings at the end of full-time.

Furthermore, VAR Michael Oliver required an on-field check that led to a penalty call against United.

Moreover, Ten Hag clarified that he didn’t question either Oliver or referee David Coote.

He, however, questioned the process that led to the controversial VAR decision.

“I don’t criticize any personnel, but I criticize the process and… the off-field was obviously, the VAR was Michael Oliver, but also the on-field,” the United manager said.

“But then you have to show a big personality to recall this decision,” he added.

PENALTY LED TO BOWEN’S HEROICS TO CARRY HAMMERS TO WIN

Moreover, the penalty led to Jarrod Bowen’s heroics.

His heroics carried the Hammers to a crucial victory that added to United’s woes.

Furthermore, reports suggested that the contact between de Ligt and Ings appeared slight and shouldn’t merit a penalty.

“So first of all, it is not always the best team winning, and today was clear and obvious and clear and obvious wasn’t how the VAR worked,” Ten Hag said.

“There was a wrong decision, and now they make again a wrong decision interfering, and both have a big impact on the scores of the games,” he added.

The loss sent United down to 14th place in the table.

UNITED MANAGER CITES NEED TO ‘TURN THIS THING AROUND’ AMID STRUGGLES

Furthermore, the United manager cited the need to “turn this thing around” amid the team’s struggles this season.

Moreover, United has only won three of their first nine matches in the Premier League this season.

“And last season was not different, but in the end, we turned this around,” the United manager said.

“But we have to turn this around, and it will turn around if we keep playing like we are playing now, and in this block – Brentford, Fenerbahce, today, we played really good football,” he added.

United hopes to change their fortunes when they host Leicester City in the Carabao Cup round of 16 on Wednesday.
