Tsitsipas wins over Baena, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, in his Paris Masters opening match.
Furthermore, the Greek World No.11 overcame an upset stomach and an opening set loss to beat the Spaniard.
Moreover, the victory enabled Tsitsipas to remain in contention for a spot in the season-ending ATP finals.
The 26-year-old Monte Carlo resident admitted he had to overcome a “second battle”—his stomach problem—in addition to dealing with Baena.
“I couldn’t even pump myself up at the beginning of the match,” Tsitsipas said.
He explained that “when something is bothering you that much, it takes your entire concentration and focus.”

Furthermore, Tsitsipas became the fifth player born in 1980 or later to record 100 career wins at Masters 1000 events.
He is also the first player born in 1988 or later to achieve the feat.
Tsitsipas rolled 36 winners to 32 unforced errors to raise his career win-loss record at Masters 1000 events from 100 to 52.
The No.10 seed is set to face the winner of the match between Alejandro Tabilo and Nuno Borges.
