Wood replaces Bashir; Stokes set for 100th appearance

England will field pacer Mark Wood in a last-minute change before its third Test match against India on Thursday.

Wood will replace Shoaib Bashir in the upcoming match at Rajkot on Thursday. Captain Ben Stokes is slated to make his 100th Test appearance, according to the England Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday.

England hopes to bounce back after absorbing a 106-run loss in the second Test at Visakhapatnam. That tied their series at 1-1 after England took the opener with a 28-run victory in Hyderabad.

The fourth Test unfolds in Ranchi on February 23, while the fifth and final Test is set on March 7 in Dharamsala.

Stokes is ready for his historic 100th appearance for England at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

The hosts to get another superlative performance from Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin to move ahead in their five-match Test series. Bumrah’s brilliance had England getting bundled out for 292 and losing by 106 runs the last time out.

Stokes hopes to reconnect with wicketkeeper-batter Ben Foakes to give England a chance to bounce back.
