ZVEREV DOMINATES HUMBERT IN STRAIGHT SETS TO WIN PARIS MASTERS TITLE
Zverev dominates Humbert, 6-2, 6-2, in a straight-set final to win his seventh Paris Masters title in the French capital.
Furthermore, the third seed rose past world No.1 Jannik Sinner with 66 wins to have the most wins on the ATP tour this year.
Moreover, Zverev took control of the match early to ensure his first Masters 1000 title in Paris.
“Ugo is an incredible player, but here in Paris, he plays even better than he usually does, and I knew that,” Zverev said.
“Once the crowd is involved, it’s going to be difficult. So I had to take that away early, and I did, so I’m happy about that,” he added.
HUMBERT FAILS TO BANK ON HOME CROWD IN FIRST MASTERS FINAL
Moreover, Humbert failed to take advantage of having the home crowd in his first Masters final.
Furthermore, the 15th-seeded Frenchman failed to follow up his upset of world No.2 Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in the third round by falling short in the final.
Humbert saved two break points while trailing 1-3 but dropped his serve in the third game, hurting his chances to come back.
Zverev, meanwhile, just dropped one point on his serve in the opening set.
The German took a 3-0 lead in the second set as Humbert blew a 40-0 lead at one point.
NEW PARIS MASTERS CHAMP TO REPLACE ALCARAZ AS WORLD NO.2
Furthermore, the new Paris Masters champ will replace Alcaraz as the new world No.2 when the latest ATP rankings come out.
Moreover, he also became the second German, after retired legend Boris Becker, to win the Paris tournament.
Zverev is expected to be a major contender at the upcoming ATP Finals.
That tournament will gather the top eight players of the season and will take place in Turin, Italy, from November 10 to 17.
