ZVEREV WARNED FOR TAKING BALL MARK PHOTO BEFORE GETTING WIN OVER FOKINA
Zverev was warned for taking a ball mark photo during his match against Fokina at the Manolo Santana Stadium in Spain.
Furthermore, the 28-year-old German world No.2 and top seed got his cell phone from his bag to take a photo of the mark in the second set.
Moreover, Zverev’s plea to overrule an electronic line call fell on deaf ears from umpire Mohamed Lahyani.
This prompted him to take the photo that was posted on Instagram.
Lahyani then slapped the German with a code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct.
GERMAN OVERCOMES TENSION-FILLED MATCH TO ADVANCE
Zverev overcame a tension-filled match to advance following his 2-6, 7-6(3), 7-6(0) victory.
Moreover, the German came back from a set and a break down to dispatch his Spanish opponent.
Furthermore, Zverev needed all of two hours and 44 minutes to advance into the next round.
“The first set wasn’t my best tennis but it is sport and it can change quickly,” Zverev said.
“I was down a set and a break and I had to fight. I am very happy with the win. Alejandro is playing unbelievable tennis, the best of his life, so I am happy to be through,” he added.
