After losing Dhawan and Gill early on, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer led the chase with their outstanding partnership of 161 runs for the third wicket.
Ishan Kishan failed to complete his well-deserved hundred and got out after scoring 93 runs off just 84 balls.
But Shreyas Iyer finished the job and scored his 2nd ODI hundred.
Iyer and Samson remained unbeaten on 113 and 30 runs respectively as India chased down the total with 3 overs to spare.
