Manchester United may still find a new centreback in Dutch footballer Matthijs de Ligt to boost their lineup.
The Red Devils’ chances of landing the 24-year-old de Ligt were revived after reports of his dwindling role at Bayern Munich surfaced. De Ligt only made 11 starts under Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel, leading to growing transfer rumors.

At Manchester United, de Ligt could play a bigger role under boss Erik ten Hag, his coach at Ajax. The Red Devils could also use another player of de Ligt’s caliber due to Raphael Varane’s uncertain future with the club.
Varane’s contract will expire at the end of the season.
Tudel was said to have preferred fielding Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae as a defensive pair over de Ligt, The Sun reported. De Ligt was benched in Bayern’s 0-3 loss to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
De Ligt responded with “top fit” when asked about concerns that he is injured, taking a dig at Tudel. The Dutchman has three-and-a-half years on his Bayern contract.
The 6-foot-2 footballer joined Bayern from Juventus 18 months ago for around £68 million.
