IHSANULLAH LEAVES PAKISTAN, HEADS TO UK
Ihsanullah has left Pakistan to meet an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports injuries for his elbow injury treatment.
The 21-year-old Multan Sultans fast bowler hopes to complete a long-term rehabilitation for his elbow injury that he sustained in April 2023.
Ihsanullah was playing for Pakistan in its white-ball series against New Zealand when he went down with the injury.
The PCB will shoulder the cost of the cricketer’s treatment amid a misdiagnosis by its medical department.
The board claimed Ihsanullah’s injury was not serious and it recommended gym and weight work.
However, the cricketer’s situation got worse, resulting in the need for further medical attention.
PCB ARRANGES IHSANULLAH APPOINTMENT WITH WATTS
Ihsanullah was set to meet UK-based orthopedic surgeon Dr. Adam Watts after the PCB and Multan Sultans made the arrangement.
Multan Sultans owner Aki Tareen earlier accused the PCB of its failure to provide accurate treatment to Ihsanullah.
Tareen was convinced at the time that his player would likely require surgery before he spoke with PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
The team owner later spoke with PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi regarding Ihsanullah’s condition.
PCB OFFICIAL DENIES IHSANULLAH MISHANDLING ISSUE
PCB medical officer Dr. Sohail Saleem denied any mishandling by the board on Ihsanullah’s injury.
However, he admitted that there was a “delay in the proper diagnosis” of the Multan Sultans fast-bowler’s condition.
The PCB was also under scrutiny in July 2022 when Shaheen Shah Afridi suffered a knee ligament injury that was not diagnosed.
Retired cricketer Shahid Afridi publicly complained that his son-in-law’s condition was neglected by the board.
That prompted the PCB to cover Shaheen’s medical expenses.
