India does not need to hire two separate coaches to handle its limited overs and Test format teams, says former England spinner Graeme Swann.

INDIA DOESN’T NEED OVERSEAS COACHES FOR RED-BALL, WHITE-BALL FORMATS
A cricket-crazy country like India doesn’t need to hire two overseas coaches to manage its red-ball and white-ball formats, said Swann.
The former cricket star cited India as a country that doesn’t have players competing for a year in Twenty20 (T20) leagues across the globe.
“For a nation like India, because of the IPL and the fact the players don’t play other leagues, people are based in India the whole year round,” Swann told Press Trust India at the Legends Intercontinental T20 league launch on Thursday.
“You don’t need to split (separate coaches),” he added.
Swann made the statement after current India men’s national coach Rahul David would not continue after the T20 World Cup.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has began a search for David’s successor.
GAMBHIR LEADS LIST AFTER PONTING, LANGER BACKED OUT
Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Gautam Gambhir has emerged as the frontrunner for the position after overseas coaches.
Australian coach Ricky Ponting earlier withdrew his name from the list.
Ponting cited his family and handling the Delhi Capitals in the IPL (Indian Premier League) as factors for declining the offer.
Another Australian coach, Justin Langer, and Zimbabwean Andy Flower have ruled themselves out for the position as well.
England adopted split coaching duties, with Brendon McCullum installed as the red-ball coach and Matthew Mott as the white-ball mentor.

South Africa also adopts the split-coaching setup under Shukri Conrad and Rob Walter.
Swann insisted that Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie also split coaching duties in Pakistan, something India doesn’t need to follow.
“In England, we have three teams that go all around the world ’cause our summer is in a different time. That’s one of the main reasons that split coaches in England,” Swann said.
“You don’t need it in India,” the 45-year-old spinner added.
However, BCCI secretary Jay Shah ruled out the possibility of using different coaches for red and white ball formats in India.
