SWIATEK EYES ‘COACHES FROM ABROAD’ AFTER 3-YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH WIKTOROWSKI
Furthermore, Swiatek eyes “coaches from abroad.”
She ended a three-year partnership with Wiktorowski on Friday.
Moreover, the 23-year-old welcomed the opportunity to be handled by a non-Polish coach.
This will mark the first time Swiatek will be handled by a foreign coach in her career.
Swiatek has been coached by Wiktorowski since 2021.
Wiktorowski was named WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Coach of the Year by his peers last year.
The world No.1 decided to skip several tournaments – from the China Open to the Korea Open – to prepare herself for a new coach.
“I give myself a couple of weeks to start a cooperation with a new coach,” Swiatek said.
“I’m in the middle of first talks with coaches from abroad because I’m ready to take the next step of my career,” she added.
POLISH WORLD NO.1 NEEDS ‘SOMETHING DIFFERENT’ TO BOOST NON-CLAY RECORD
Moreover, a tennis expert is convinced the Polish world No.1 needs “something different” to boost her chances in non-clay tournaments.
Furthermore, Eurosport expert Barbara Schett cited Swiatek’s need to get a “different pair of eyes.”
Swiatek has yet to win the other major tournaments – Wimbledon and US Open – this year.
She currently owns four French Open titles.
“Iga Swiatek might be No.1 in the world, (but) she still wants to develop her game outside of clay, (for example) on grass and hard,” Schett said.
“She is looking for something different, an outside look, because at this level, every percentage counts,” she added.
FISSETTTE, BELTZ, TYZZER, BOYTON FLOATED TO COACH SWIATEK
Furthermore, several coaches have already been floated to coach Swiatek despite no formal announcements yet from her.
Moreover, Wim Fissette looms as one of the candidates, as she was the former coach of ex-World No.1 Naomi Osaka.
Fissette guided Osaka to the 2020 US Open and 2021 Australian Open titles.
German coach Toben Beltz is also a possible choice after he worked with compatriot Angelique Kerber when she won the 2016 Australian and US Open titles.
Another prospect is Craig Tyzzer, best known for guiding Ashleigh Barty to the world No.1 ranking and winning three Grand Slam titles.
Swiatek might also work with Craig Boynton, who has more experience coaching male tennis players.
Boynton handled the likes of Jim Courier, John Isner, Mardy Fish, and Swiatek’s compatriot Hubert Hurkacz in an impressive coaching resume.
