CHAKARAVARTHY GETS DUBIOUS RECORD DESPITE FIVE-WICKET HAUL

Chakaravarthy gets a dubious record despite his five-wicket haul at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on Sunday.

Furthermore, the 33-year-old bowler’s five wickets in 17 runs became the best number for a team in a losing cause.

Moreover, Mustafizur Rahman and Matt Short previously held this record.

Rahman was 5/22 for Bangladesh against New Zealand in 2016, while Short had a similar number for Australia against England in Cardiff earlier this year.

For India, Chakaravarthy’s mark topped the 4/13 Ravi Bishnoi tallied in India’s loss to Zimbabwe also this year.

PROTEAS BOUNCE BACK AFTER LOSING IN FIRST TEST

Moreover, the Proteas bounced back after getting outplayed in Durban on Friday.

Furthermore, South Africa dominated behind Tristan Stubbs with an unbeaten 47 off 41 deliveries.

In that first Test, Sanju Samson blew the Proteas away before Chakravarthy and Bishnoi combined in a 61-run defeat of the South Africans.

It was a rewarding win for South Africa, which played six matches before Sunday and won only once.

Meanwhile, Gerald Coetzee combined with Stubbs for 42 runs for the eight-wicket alliance for the Proteas.

YADAV LAUDS CHAKRAVARTHY DESPITE INDIA LOSS

Furthermore, skipper Suryakumar Yadav lauded Chakravarthy despite India’s loss.

Moreover, the Indian captain admitted the whole team enjoyed Chakravarthy’s performance, which was due “for a long time.”

“In a T20, someone getting a five-for while defending 125 is incredible,” Yadav said.

“Varun has been waiting for this for a long time, working hard on his bowling, and everyone enjoyed it,” he added.

For his part, South Africa captain Aiden Markham liked his team’s chances with a 1-1 score going into Johannesburg for the third test.

“Two games to go, lot of entertainment left. 1-1 going into Jo’burg gonna be a lot of fun,” Markham said.
