STOKES CONFIRMS LEFT HAMSTRING SURGERY AFTER DECEMBER ENGLAND TEST VS NEW ZEALAND
Stokes confirms the left hamstring surgery he underwent after he bowled in England’s Test against New Zealand last month.
Furthermore, the 33-year-old England Test captain suffered the injury after he initially torn hamstring while batting for Northern Superchargers against the Manchester Originals in August.
Moreover, Stokes posted on Instagram his picture in a car as he was supported by a leg brace.
He also placed a caption on the photo: “Bionic Man for a while.”
Stokes was forced to miss England’s recent Test series against Sri Lanka.

Moreover, Stokes admitted racing to play again after his initial injury would “physically drain and ruin himself.”
Furthermore, the “Bionic Man” missed two months during his August injury, as he rushed to play in England’s winter assignments in Pakistan and New Zealand.
Stokes bowled 36.2 overs prior to his injury in Hamilton, which was the most he has bowled in a Test since 40 at Trent Bridge also against New Zealand in 2022.
He had bowled 49 overs across three Tests against West Indies after his successful knee surgery in October 2023.
“I have to work so much harder on the physical side of the job to allow me to go out and do my job,” Stokes said then prior to the Hamilton Test.

Furthermore, a possible three-month rehab period means the England captain’s target return could be a Test in Zimbabwe in May.
Moreover, Stokes is definitely not playing for England in next month’s ICC Champions Trophy.
The injury has also forced him to forego a £800,000 deal with MI Cape Town in the SA20 that starts on Thursday.
“I bowled nice in the summer, had a setback but now feel out of that and not worrying about anything else happening again,” Stokes said.
“As you get older you think about your body a bit more but I work harder because I have to,” he added.
