INDIA PUTS PAKISTAN ON BRINK AS KOHLI STARS WITH 51ST ODI TON
India puts Pakistan on the brink as Virat Kohli pulled off a smashing 51st ODI (One-Day International) ton.
Furthermore, Kohli’s ton combined with Shreyas Iyer’s 67-ball 56 and Shubman Gill’s 46 off 52 balls to help India reach its 242 target.
Moreover, Kohli achieved the feat by taking 111 balls as India reached its target with more than seven overs to spare.
The 36-year-old’s brilliance were too much for Pakistan, which deployed Shahid Afridi and Haris Rauf to slow him down to no avail.
Iyer highlighted his exploits with his 103-meter six shot off spinner Salman Agha.
He also assisted Kohli to boost 114 runs for India for the third wicket.
IYER STILL NOT IMPRESSED WITH LATEST INDIA WIN OVER PAKISTAN
Meanwhile, Iyer was still not impressed with India’s latest win over the hosts.
Moreover, the 30-year-old top order batter felt his team could have pulled of “a convincing win.”
Furthermore, Iyer believes India’s six-wicket win over his arch rival could’ve been much better if they “played more aggressively.”
“I think we could have won a bit earlier. It would have been a convincing win,” Iyer said.
“But if we could have played more aggressively, we could have won a bit earlier,” he added.
RIZWAN CONCEDES PAKISTAN HOPES OF REACHING SEMIS ‘ALL OVER’
Team captain Mohammad Rizwan concedes Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the semifinals are “all over.”
Furthermore, he noted the team’s second-straight loss in the tournament after conceding a 60-run match to New Zealand hurt their chances.
Moreover, Rizwan explained they will monitor “what Bangladesh does with New Zealand” and with other games to know their fate.
“We can say for now that it is over. That is the truth,” the Pakistan captain said.
“We’ll see what Bangladesh does with New Zealand, then New Zealand with India and then what we do,” he added.
