PEGULA OUSTS RADUCANU TO HALT STRING OF UPSETS IN SOUTH FLORIDA
Pegula ousts Raducanu 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-2, in their quarterfinals match.
Furthermore, the 31-year-old American world No.4 stopped the upset axe that has rocked the tournament with a solid performance in the deciding set.
Moreover, Pegula needed all of two hours and 25 minutes to eliminate the unseeded British player.
The win pushed her to her third Miami Open semifinal in four years.
Pegula’s match ended by 11:23pm EDT, forcing organizers to postpone the men’s quarterfinal between Novak Djokovic and Sebastian Korda and move it to Thursday.

RADUCANU SOUGHT MEDICAL TIMEOUT TO FIGHT HUMIDITY AT COURT
Raducanu sought a medical timeout just before the tiebreaker in the second set as she nearly succumbed to overheating around the court.
Moreover, humidity around Miami reached 70% Wednesday, leading to Raducanu’s blood pressure and pulse rate rising.
Furthermore, medical personnel rubbed ice bags on the Briton’s legs and had to put cold towels around her neck during the timeout.
After Raducanu took the tiebreaker, 7-2, Pegula responded early in the decider and took a 2-0 lead.
The American would not surrender the lead en route to the win.
JESSICA LOVES ‘PLAYING AT HOME’; EALA NEXT
Pegula, a Boca Raton, Florida, resident but a New York native, takes pride playing “at home” in Miami.
Furthermore, she “badly” wants to reach the final, which pushed her hard in the deciding set that paved the way to her victory.
“It was tough. I played a good first set, a little let down in the second, got it back, went up 2-0 in the tiebreak, but the it kind of flipped,” Pegula said.
The American will next face unseeded wildcard Alexandra Eala of the Philippines, who stunned Polish world No.2 Iga Swiatek, 6-2, 7-5.
