SWIATEK RALLIES TO GET BACK AT EALA IN MADRID AFTER MIAMI OPEN UPSET
Swiatek rallies to get back at Eala, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in Madrid after the former fell to the latter in an upset at the Miami Open.
Furthermore, the 23-year-old Polish world No.2 was a set and a break down before she took advantage of her younger opponent’s letdown to pull it off.
Moreover, Swiatek felt the change of surface from the hardcourts of Miami to clay in Madrid played a part in avenging her loss to the world No.72.
“On clay I feel like I have a little bit more advantage sometimes in the situations, where Alexandra (Eala) could take more advantage on faster hard courts,” Swiatek said.
“I understand that there’s hype about these young players, but you got to be focused on yourself,” she added.

GAUFF ADVANCES BY BEATING YASTREMSKA TO AVOID EARLY EXIT
Gauff advanced by beating Dayana Yastremska, 0-6, 6-2, 7-5, to avoid an early exit.
Furthermore, the American 21-year-old world No.3 won for only the second time after getting swept in the opening set at a WTA-level tournament.
Moreover, Gauff will next take on compatriot Ann Li, who pulled off a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Leylah Fernandez.
Reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys, who like Swiatek lost to Eala in her Miami run, was a 6-4, 6-4 winner over Italy’s Lucia Bronzetti.
Another teenage sensation, Russian 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva, registered a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Marie Bouzkova.

NISHIKORI, FONSECA TOPPLE FOES TO ADVANCE
Ken Nishikori and Joao Fonseca toppled their respective foes to advance in men’s singles action.
Furthermore, Nishikori completed a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Alexsandar Vukic for his 450th ATP Tour level win.
Moreover, the Japanese world Nol.64 “had no idea” of his latest milestone, as he looked back to his 18-year professional tennis career.
Fonseca also shone at the Madrid stage after he defeated Elmer Moller 6-2, 6-3.
The 18-year-old Brazilian world No.65 hopes to go on a deep run in Madrid as he next faces No.11 seed Tommy Paul of the US.
“I know it’s going to be a difficult match,” Fonseca said. “I already practiced with him (Paul) once. Yeah, excited for the match.”
