KOHLI RETIRES FROM TEST CRICKET
Kohli retires from Test cricket, ending a career that lasted 14 years and featured 123 Tests – 698 of those as captain.
Furthermore, the 36-year-old Indian top-order batter scored 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85 in a remarkable career that ran for almost one-and-a-half decade.
Moreover, Kohli admitted the decision to call it quits felt “right” to him even it was a hard call to do.
“As I step away from this format, it’s not easy – but it feels right. I’ve given it everything I had, and it’s given me back so much more than I could’ve hoped for,” Kohli said on social media.
” I’m walking away with a heart full of gratitude – for the game, for the people I shared the field with, and for every single person who made me feel seen along the way,” he added.

VIRAT FOLLOWS ASHWIN, SHARMA IN TEST RETIREMENT
Kohli thus followed the path of two other veteran cricketers in Ravichandran Ashwin and Rohit Sharma.
Moreover, Ashwin called it quits in Test cricket in December last year, while Sharma made his decision just last week
Furthermore, Kohli vowed to keep the “lessons I’ll carry for life” as pushes for the next step in his career.
“Honestly, I never imagined the journey this format would take me on. It’s tested me, shaped me, and taught me lessons I’ll carry for life,” Kohli said.

BCCI LAUDS ONE OF ‘FINEST EVER’ TO PLAY INDIAN TEST CRICKET IN HISTORY
The BCCI lauded Kohli as being one of the “finest ever” to play Indian Test cricket in its history.
Furthermore, the board still named Kohli in India’s national men’s team for its upcoming England Tests.
Moreover, BCCI president Roger Binny described him as someone who “inspired a generation” to play the game the right way.
“Virat Kohli’s name will be remembered alongside the finest evet to have graced Test cricket. what set him apart was not just his hunger for runs, but his commitment to excellence in the toughest format of the game,” the BCCI head said.
“His leadership marked a shift in how India competed overseas – with aggression, belief, and a refusal to settle for second best. He inspired a generation to take pride in the whites, and his impact on Indian cricket will be felt for decades to come,” he added.
