ALCARAZ BEATS SINNER, RALLIES FROM 2 SETS DOWN TO CLAIM 2ND STRAIGHT TITLE IN PARIS
Alcaraz beats Sinner by rallying from two sets down and saving three match points to complete a 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(10-2).
Furthermore, the 21-year-old Spanish world No.2 needed all of five hours and 29 minutes to emerge victorious in the longest French Open men’s final in the Open era.
Moreover, he trailed, 5-3, 0-40 on serve in the fourth set but Sinner never got the championship point until the end.
“The match is not finished until he wins the last point. A lot of times people came back from match point down in final of a Grand Slam or even in other matches,” Alcaraz said.
“I just wanted to be one of those players who saved match point in the Grand Slam final and ended up winning. I just believed all the time. I never doubted myself, even in those match points down,” he added.
SINNER NOT GONNA ‘SLEEP VERY WELL’ AFTER STUNNING REVERSAL AT FINAL
Sinner admitted that he was not going to “sleep very well’ after the stunning result at the final.
Moreover, the 23-year-old Italian world No.1 now trails 8-4, in his head-to-head matchup against Alcaraz after this latest loss.
Furthermore, rued having several chances to close out the match from the third set to the deciding fifth set but he wasted them.
“I don’t think I will sleep very well tonight. It’s a very high-level match, that’s for sure. Happy to be part of this. But yeah, the final result hurts,” Sinner said.
“So many chances I couldn’t use. Sometimes you have these days. You can’t really do anything now,” he added.

“I also felt like this is one I really wanted, because I do think this was one of the tournaments that, when I was younger, that I felt I had the best shot of winning,” Gauff said.
“I just felt like if I went through my career and didn’t get at least one of these, I would feel regrets and stuff,” she added.
