MEDAL POTENTIAL A PRIORITY FOR MURRAY
Murray clarified that he is willing to play one last time at the Olympics if he has the potential to land a medal for Great Britain.
“I would love the chance to play in another Olympics, but also genuinely only if I felt there was a chance of winning a medal,” he said.
The two-time Olympic gold medallist played with Joe Salisbury in men’s doubles in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when they reached the quarterfinals.
MURRAY NOT OUT TO TAKE ‘OTHER GUYS’ SPOTS’
The 36-year-old former world No.1 would not accept privileges or special arrangements just to play in Paris.
“I would want to be there by right and not just take one of the other guys’ spots, because it is a brilliant opportunity,” he said.
Murray, who is currently world No.62, cited Cam Norrie (No.31), Jack Draper (No.42), and Dan Evans (No.43) as deserving for Great Britiain.
Salisbury is No.6 in men’s doubles while Neal Skupski is No.11.
