ANISIMOVA TOPPLES SABALENKA, ADVANCES TO FIRST ALL-ENGLAND FINAL
Anisimova toppled Sabalenka, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, made her finals breakthrough at a major after her second try, reaching the last four at the 2019 French Open at age 17.
Consequently, the 23-year-old American world No.13 needed all of two hours and 36 minutes to outlast her Belarussian world No.1 in a match between two power hitters.
Nevertheless, the New Jersey-born player did the work from taking a break from the sport two years ago due to a burnout to become a first time finalist at a major.
“This doesn’t feel real right now,” Anismova said.
“I was absolutely dying out there. I don’t know how I pulled it out,” she added.
SABALENKA REFUSES TO REPEAT POST-FRENCH OPEN FINAL INCIDENT ON GAUFF
Sabalenka refused to repeat a post-French Open final statement, wherein she said didn’t give credit eventual champion Coco Gauff as the cause of her loss.
As a result, the 27-year-old top seed blamed her errors more than Gauff for losing the final at Roland Garros last month.
She would then share her perspective on what it takes to lose, and how she changed to become better the next time.
“I just don’t want to face that hate again. We’re all people. We all can lose control over our emotions,” Sabalenka said of her French Open loss.
“I mean, you see stuff where you weren’t at your best in the match. You see that the other player perform much better,” she added.

On the other hand, the 24-year-old Polish world No.4 needed just 71 minutes and less of the drama the Anisimova-Sabalenka match had to offer.
However, the four-time French Open champion is not taking this moment for granted.
She finally made the final in three of the four majors.
“Honestly, I never even dreamed that it’s going to be possible for me to play in the final,” Swiatek said.
“So I’m just excited and proud of myself, and I don’t know, tennis keeps surprising,” she added.
