Barcelona’s Dani Olmo and Pau Victor have been granted temporary playing registration by the Spanish national sports council (CSD).

Olmo, Victor granted temporary registration
Barcelona registered both players only for the first half of the season because they couldn’t meet La Liga’s wage cap restrictions.
Olmo and Victor were both unregistered on January 1 after Barcelona missed the December 31 deadline to demonstrate compliance with LaLiga’s financial fair play regulations.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and La Liga rejected Barca’s request to register Olmo and Victor.
However, the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) ruled that the team can select Olmo and Víctor until the case receives a definitive ruling.
A final, definitive decision is expected within three months.
In a statement, LaLiga expressed its disagreement with the CSD’s decision and added that it was considering an appeal.
“The content of the resolution will be studied carefully in order to present the appropriate appeals, without prejudice to expressing its absolute disagreement with it,” it said.
A relief for Barca
Meanwhile, Barcelona secured a spot in the Spanish Super Cup final on Wednesday by defeating Athletic Club 2-0 in the semifinal held in Saudi Arabia.
After the Super Cup victory, manager Hansi Flick said it was a huge relief for his team after the decision.
“I am really happy for these two guys, but I am also happy for the whole team,” Flick said.
“After the information, you can see what happens in the bus, it was good. I think the whole club is very happy for this decision, for this right decision.”
“[Olmo and Victor] are happy. Not only I’m happy, also they are happy. It was a good signal for us before the match because everyone wants to show also that we are a team and we win also for them.”
Both Olmo and Victor joined Barca permanently last summer.
However, the duo registered temporarily via a rule which allows clubs to allocate up to 80% of the salary due to an injured player — in this case Andreas Christensen — on replacements.
They will suit up in Sunday’s final against Real Madrid or Mallorca.
