Gauff overcame a slow start to defeat Oceane Dodin, 6-4, 6-0, to progress into the fourth round.

The South Florida native overcame an early deficit in the first set to close out Dodin and improve to 23-1 in the US this year.

Gauff’s only loss this year so far was against Maria Sakkari at Indian Wells earlier this month.

“It would be really cool to win here at home. I think the best part about winning here is just being able to drive home with the trophy and not have to fly and pack,” Gauff said.

The reigning US Open champion, who turned 20 on March 13, next faces No.27 Carolina Garcia, who beat Naomi Osaka of Japan, 7-6(4), 7-5.

Sinner rallied after losing the first set to turn back No.26 Tallon Griekspoor, 5-7, 7-5, 6-1.

Griekspoor led, 7-5, 3-3, when a light rain shower briefly stopped the match before Sinner came back from the break to take over.

Murray’s campaign in Miami ended with a 7-5, 5-7, 6-7(5) against Tomas Machac.

Murray seemed to land awkwardly on his left ankle in the third set but he still managed to finish the match.

In another men’s singles match, Casper Ruud pulled off a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina to advance to the next round.
