DJOKOVIC REACHES GENEVA OPEN QUARTERS AFTER BEATING HANFMANN

Djokovic advanced to the last eight of the Geneva Open after defeating unseeded Yannick Hanfmann, 6-3, 6-3.

The Serbian won six straight games to notch his 1,100th victory at ATP tournaments, as he celebrated his 37th birthday.

After Hanfmann’s forehand hit the net, Djokovic converted his second match point in a match that was suspended by rain earlier.

At the time, Djokovic led, 5-3, and was trying to serve out the first set.

The World No.1 received a wildcard slot at the Geneva Open.

He will next face either Denis Shapovalov or Tallon Griekspoor for a place in the semifinals.

MURRAY GETS FRENCH OPEN DOUBLES WILD CARD SLOT AFTER GENEVA OPEN EXIT

Andy Murray, meanwhile, was given a wild card slot to play in the French Open along with Daniel Evans.

He received the slot after Murray made an early exit at the Geneva Open.

The former World No.1 and Davis form the first non-French pair to be awarded a wild card in the men’s doubles at Roland Garros after more than 20 years.

Murray lost to Hanfmann, 7-5, 6-2, in the Geneva Open first round.

The 37-year-old also made it to the men’s singles draw in what could be his last French Open.

Murray hopes to go a deep run at Roland Garros and improve on his runner-up finish in 2016.

RADUCANU TO PLAY IN ROTHESAY OPEN AS PREPARATION FOR WIMBLEDON

Emma Raducanu, meanwhile, will play at the Rothesay Open in Nottingham in June in preparation for Wimbledon.

The 21-year-old will focus on training for the grass and hard-court seasons.

This prompted her to skip the French Open qualifying event.

Raducanu underwent surgery on her wrists and ankle that forced her to miss the 2023 grasscourt season.

The former US Open winner last played at the Madrid Masters on April 24 after losing to Maria Lourdes Carle in straight sets.

The Nottingham tournament is scheduled to begin on June 8 to serve as the first Women’s Tennis Association competition of the British grass-court swing.

Wimbledon is set from July 1-14.
