Guyanese pacer Shamar Joseph inks deal with PSL side

by Noe

Shamar Joseph will take his act to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after the Guyanese pacer recently signed a new deal. The 24-year-old West Indies bowler on Monday is set to play for Peshawar Zalmi for the entire season.

Joseph will stay with Peshawar Zalmi even if Gus Atkinson returns from the England squad playing in India. Atkinson is part of the English team playing in the five-match Test series that ends in March.

Zalmi acquired Joseph via the replacement draft, ESPNcricinfo reported.

Joseph completed a seven-wicket spell in the second inning for West Indies in its second Test match against Australia. His heroics enabled Joseph to earn “Player of the Match” honors.

The Guyanese standout beat Australia’s Travis Head, Josh Hazlewood, Cameron Green, Pat Cummins, Alex Carey, Mitchell Marsh, and Mitchell Starc, among others for the honor.

The Gaddafi Stadium is set to host the 2024 PSL season starting on February 17 until March 18. However, the final match of the tournament will be held at the National Stadium in Karachi.

The Lahore Qalandars emerged as champions of the tournament last year.
