ICC GIVES NOD TO HYBRID MODEL, NEUTRAL VENUES FOR INDIA-PAKISTAN MATCHES

The ICC gives nod to a hybrid model for India-Pakistan matches, which will be held at a neutral venue.

Furthermore, neither Pakistan or India teams will travel in each other’s turf starting at the Champions Trophy 2025.

Moreover, all major ICC cricket tournaments held in India would also need to adapt to a hybrid model where Pakistan will play all its mathes.

The agreement runs from 2025 until 2027, and this will also include knockout matches from the semifinals to the finals.

Additionally, India’s first foray into a hybrid model hosting arrangement will happen at the 2025 women’s ODI World Cup.

Furthermore, February 23 has been penned as the target date for the Pakistan-India match for Champions Trophy 2025.

Moreover, the selection for the neutral venue has come down to between Colombo in Sri Lanka or Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

“India and Pakistan matches hosted by either country at ICC events during the 2024-2027 rights cycle will be played at a neutral venue,” sources told IANS.

“India will take on Pakistan at a neutral venue on February 23. ICC (International Cricket Council) looking at Colombo and Dubai to host their matches,” the sources added.

Political tensions have forced Pakistan and India to play each other in cricket tournaments only in World Cups or Asian Cups.

IPL CHAIRMAN BACKS ICC DECISION ON HYBRID MODEL ARRANGEMENT

Furthermore, India Premier League (IPL) chairman Arun Dhumal backs the ICC’s decision on implementing the hybrid model arrangement.

Moreover, Dhumal cited “clarity” in making the ICC decision official that would benefit all stakeholders.

“It is good that we got some clarity on the Champions Trophy, and also the future ICC tournaments.” Dhumal said.

That will be helpful for all the stakeholders, cricket boards, and the broadcasters,” he added.

Meanwhile, the ICC has awarded the Pakistan Cricket Board the hosting rights for the ICC women’s T20 World Cup in 2028.
