KOHLI LEADS SIX INDIAN CRICKETERS IN ‘TEAM OF THE TOURNAMENT’ AFTER TITLE WIN

Kohli leads six Indian cricketers in the ICC (International Cricket Council) team after Team India’s four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the final.

Furthermore, the 36-year-old star batter was joined by Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Varun Chakravarthy, and Mohammed Shami in the top XI.

Moreover, all-rounder Axar Patel earned his place as the 12th man.

Kohli was listed at No,3 in the 12-man ICC team after he placed fifth in the run-scoring charts with 218 at an average of 54.50.

He was cited for his unbeaten century in India’s group-stage win over Pakistan and an 84 in their semifinals victory over Australia.

SHARMA OUT DESPITE EXPLOITS IN FINAL; 4 NEW ZEALAND PLAYERS IN ICC TEAM

Interestingly, Rohit Sharma was out of the list despite his exploits for Team India in Sunday’s final.

Moreover, the India team captain came through with an efficient 83-ball 76 to give India a huge star against the Black Caps.

Furthermore, four members from New Zealand earned spots to the ICC team.

Player of the Tournament Rachin Ravindra led the Black Caps along with team captain Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry, and Glenn Phillips.

Ibrahim Zadran and Azmatullah Omarzal were two players from Afghanistan who also joined the team.

EX-INDIA STAR WANTS SHARMA, KOHLI TO LEAD INDIA TO 2027 ODI WORLD CUP BEFORE RETIRING

A former India star suggested that Sharma and Kohli can only retire after they lead India to the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Furthermore, Yograj Singh was optimistic of his wish after he heard Sharma say he’s not retiring yet from the ODI (One-Day International) format.

Moreover, the 66-year-old retired bowler and actor feels Sharma and Kohli still have enough oncce they play in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

“The best thing is that Rohit Sharma said he is not retiring. Well done, my son. Nobody can retire Rohit and Virat,” Yograj told ANI.

“They should think about retirement after winning the 2027 ODI World Cup. I had said this before India would win,” he added.
