KOHLI SHARES RECENT RESURGENCE IN CHAMPIONS TROPHY AFTER VISITING COACH

Kohli shares his recent resurgence in play on Thursday after he visited former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar.

Furthermore, the 36-year-old Indian top-order batter disclosed his latest meeting with Bangar, who served the national team from 2014 to 2019.

Moreover, Kohli learned as Bangar gave him throwdowns from 16-17 yards by pitching the ball on a cement slab, Times of India reported.

The Indian cricket superstar pulled off a smashing 51st ODI (One-Day International) ton in his team’s six-wicket win over Pakistan on Monday.

It became evident that what Bangar taught Kohli at a training facility in Mumbai was all worth it.

FOOTWORK IMPROVED; VIRAT READ SPINNERS BETTER

Kohli’s footwork improved ten-fold as shown in his impressive performance against host Pakistan.

Moreover, the veteran’s back foot play worked against opposing pacers and spinners, while he pulled off impressive back-of-a-length deliveries.

Furthermore, Bangar taught Kohli to gain more confidence as he mixed his approach and kept opponents guessing.

“He (Kohli) waited for the ball to come to him. He really wasn’t on the front foot all the time,” Bangar said.

“He was willing to cover the infield as well. Against spin, what was good to see in the first half of his innings was that he was playing a lot off the back foot,” he added.

BANGAR ADJUSTED VIRAT’S BAT POSITIONING

Bangar also adjusted Kohli’s bat positioning after he recently played in Australia.

Furthermore, the coach told the veteran to ensure that his bat came down from the second or third slip region.

Moreover, Kohli also learned to open his stance more for him to better judge against pace and spin.

“What he did well was to watch the ball ’till the end, till it made contact with his bat. That’s something we discussed – to watch the ball like a hawk and give more than 100% to each delivery,” Bangar said.

“He is hungry for runs and going by the innings he played (against Pakistan), hec can easily play for another 3-4 years in international cricket,” he added.
