Former Sri Lanka skipper Lahiru Thirimanne got into a horrific car accident in Anuradhapura, which left him hospitalized.

Thirimanne in a serious accident
Thirimanne, 34, is currently in stable condition, considering the accident was a head-on collision.
Reports stated that there was at least one more passenger with Thirimanne in the car.
The car crashed into a truck that was coming from the other side.
Strikers provide update
Thirimmane’s team in Legends Cricket, New York Strikers, released an official statement regarding the incident.
According to the franchise, Thirimmane was on a pilgrimage when the accident occurred.
“We wish to inform you that Lahiru Thirimanne and his family were involved in a small car accident while visiting the temple. Thankfully, they have been admitted to the hospital for observation.”
“Fortunately, following a thorough medical assessment, we can confirm that they are all safe and sound, with no cause for concern. We appreciate the outpouring of concern and support from everyone during this time. We kindly request respect for their privacy as they recover,” the statement stated.
In his decade-long cricket career, Thirimanne played 44 Test matches, 127 ODIs, and 26 T20Is.
Thirmanne also suited up in three T20 World Cup campaigns, including the team’s title run in the 2014 edition.
He called it a career in 2023.
