NADAL, FEDERER COULD BE CO-CAPTAINS FOR EUROPE IN LAVER CUP

Nadal and Federer could be possible co-captains for Europe in the Laver Cup if the two retired tennis legends consider it.

Furthermore, Laver Cup owner Tony Godsick confirmed his interest in bringing both Nadal and Federer alternating the captaincy post for Team Europe in the future.

“My dream is for Roger (Federer) to be captain and Rafa (Nadal) assistant and then the other way around,” Godsick said.

“In this way, they would be longer in office. The rivalry they both had on the court was very special, but I think the friendship of the two outside is even more special,” he added.

The Spanish former world No.1 played three times in the Laver Cup – in 2018, 2019, and 2022 – which was Federer’s last tournament before he retired.

GODSICK ALSO OPEN TO PUSH FOR LEGENDS’ EXHIBITION MATCH AT BERNABEU STADIUM

Moreover, Godsick is also open to push for a legends’ exhibition match between Nadal and Federer at Real Madrid’s Bernabeu Stadium.

Furthermore, the Laver Cup owner Spanish fans with Real Madrid would come in droves to support him.

He added that Federer is open to consider the plan if it can generate record-breaking numbers for fans.

“Since Roger retired, he hasn’t wanted to play another match as long as he doesn’t feel physically well. To my mind comes the record of spectators that they beat in South Africa,” Godsick said.

“If there id sn option to beat that one day, I’m sure Roger will consider it. They both like to collaborate,” he added.

ALCARAZ HAILS ‘ETERNAL’ NADAL LEGACY, SAYS TOPPING HIM IS ‘IMPOSSIBLE’

Furthermore, Carlos Alcaraz hailed Nadal’s “eternal” legacy in his tennis career.

He said that topping him would be “impossible.”

Moreover, Alcaraz and Nadal were teammates for Spain in the recent Davis Cup where they lost to the Netherlands.

This marked the end of the 38-year-old’s playing career.

“I mean his (Nadal) legacy is going to be eternal. You know, he has been great for tennis, for this sport in general,” Alcaraz said.

“I don’t want to think that I should continue, you know, the legacy that he has left. It is difficult, almost impossible,” he added.

The current world No.2 admitted he wanted to win it for Spain for Nadal but insisted he was more focused on his game at the time.

“I really wanted to do it for Rafa, but I stay focused on my game, try not to think about, you know, Rafa’s last tournament,” Alcaraz said.
