Sinner lauds a “respectful” Australian Open crowd after his latest win over De Minaur, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1.
Furthermore, the Italian world No.1 was appreciative and relieved of the atmosphere in Melbourne despite him ousting Australia’s last hope in the men’s singles category.
Moreover, Sinner described the crowd as “amazing” despite knowing they’re rooting against him.
“I like the conditions here to play, and the crowd is amazing. It was very respectful today, knowing that playing Alex (De Minaur) here, it’s not easy,” the Italian said.
“So many people came here for him tonight, but it was an amazing atmosphere,” he added.
DE MINAUR ‘WANTED TO DO WELL HERE’ BUT JUST FELL SHORT
Moreover, De Minaur “wanted to do well here” for the home crowf but just fell short.
Furthermore, the 25-year-old world No.8 has not won in 10 meetings against Sinner and will continue that way for the meantime.
“The whole country wanted me to do well. I wanted to do well here,” De Minaur said.
“I would have loved to do more today, but this is what happens sometimes in tennis,” he added.
Australia has not seen a local favorite reach the semifinals in men’s singles since Lleyton Hewitt two decades ago.

Furthermore, Ben Shelton ousted Lorenzo Sonego, 6-4, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6, to earn another shot at Sinner.
Moreover, the 22-year-old American slammed the conduct of interviews from broadcsters in Melbourne the past few days, admitting that he was “shocked.”
“I’ve been a little bit shocked this week with how players have been treated by the broadcasters,” Shelton said.
“I feel like broadcasters should be helping us grow our sport and help these athletes who just won matches on the biggest stage enjoy one of their biggest moments,” he added.
The American noted that interviews with Novak Djokovic and Vietnamese-American Learner Tien, after he upset Daniil Medvedev, that the interviewers were “disrespectful” to them.
