SINNER REACHES BEST RANKING AMONG ITALIAN PLAYERS
Sinner also made history as the first Italian to reach a career-high No.2 in either ATP or WTA’s history.
The 22-year-old Monte Carlo-based player is on a roll after winning the Australian Open in January and the Miami Open on Sunday.
Before Miami, Sinner also claimed the ATP 500 event in Rotterdam in February, which moved him from No.4 to No.3.
The Italian tus eased out previous No.2 Carlos Alcaraz, who dropped to third in the list.
SINNER ALSO HAS MOST ATP TITLES AMONG ITALIANS
Sinner’s latest win in Miami raised his ATP title total to 13, which also made him keep the most ATP trophies among Italian players.
He surpassed Sandra Cecchini, who collected 12 WTA titles in her career.
Sinner also matched Fabio Fognini among Italians who have won more than one Masters 1000 title.
His No.2 ranking bested Adriano Panatta, who was world No.4 in 1976. Fognini peaked at No.,9 in 2019.
