SINNER REACHES SEMIFINALS AFTER OUSTING SHELTON DESPITE HURTING ELBOW
Sinner reahed the semifinals after he ousted Shelton, 7-6(2), 6-4, 6-4, to earn a shot against Djokovic.
In addition, the 23-year-old Italian world No.1 will play his second last four stint at the All England Club.
On the other hand, Sinner won despite hurting his right elbow in his fourth-round match against Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov.
He took 27 of his 29 service points in the first set while collecting 15 winners compared to one unforced error.
“When you are in a match with a lot of tension, you try to not think about it,” Sinner said.
DJOKOVIC TAKES DOWN COBOLLI FOR 14TH WIMBLEDON SEMIS STINT
Djokovic took down Flavio Cobolli, 6-7(6), 6-2, 7-5, 6-4, to advance to the Wimbledon semifinals for a men’s record 14th time.
The 38-year-old Serbian world No.5 also became the second-oldest man to reach the last four at the All England Club after Ken Rosewell in 1974 when he was 39.
Nevertheless, the 24-time Grand Slam champion is set to play in his 52nd major semifinal.
He ties Chris Evert for the most by any man or woman in the Open era.
“A lot of numbers, a lot of numbers in the head,” Djokovic said.
“It means the world to me that I’m still able at 38 to play in the final stages,” he added.

SWIATEK ADVANCES TO ALL ENGLAND SEMIS FOR FIRST TIME, ELIMINATES SAMSONOVA
Swiatek advanced to the All England semis for the first time after she eliminated Liudmila Samsonova, 6-2, 7-5.
Even though the 24-year-old Polish No.4 has won five Grand Slam titles, four of them came on clay and none at Wimbledon.
She thus became the fourth active women’s player to reach the last four of all four majors.
She follows after Aryna Sabalenka, Victoria Azarenka, and Karolina Pliskova.
Swiatek will next face Belinda Bencic, who is also playing in her first Wimbledon semifinal.
“I’ll just recover today, try not to celebrate too much, but already focus on the next one,” the Polish star said.
