TEN HAG URGES ANTONY TO FIGHT FOR HIS MINUTES AT UNITED

Furthermore, Ten Hag urges Antony to fight for his minutes at United against his teammates playing in the same position.

Moreover, the United manager gave the 24-year-old Brazilian winger more encouragement to claim a solid place in the club’s rotation.

“The players have to fight for their positions. You pick the XI who have the best dynamic, the best chemistry,” Ten Hag said regarding his player choices for a match.

“We have training every day, and the players have to earn the right. When the attitude is good and they show performances in training, then they will play,” he added.

Incidentally, Antony played just one minute of football in the Premier League this season.

He has been playing behind academy products Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho in Ten Hag’s rotation.

UNITED MANAGER WANTS BRAZILIAN WINGER TO GET PAST DIALLO, GARNACHO

Moreover, the United manager wants the Brazilian winger to get past Diallo and Garnacho to have a stable place in his rotation.

Furthermore, Ten Hag also reminded Antony to compete for minutes against Marcus Rashford, in addition to Diallo and Garnacho.

“The other players are doing so well. We have Amad (Diallo), Garna (Garnacho) – very effective,” the United manager said.

“(Marcus) Rashforrd scored at the weekend (at United’s 3-0 win at Southampton). He (Antony) has to get over them,” he added.

Rashford could get his change soon as United plays in the Carabao Cup third-round tie against League One side Barnsley on Tuesday.

NO TIMETABLE SET FOR ‘PROGRESSING’ LUKE SHAW

Furthermore, no timetable has been set by United for “progressing” Luke Shaw.

Moreover, Ten Hag disclosed that Shaw continues to recover from his calf injury, and his possible return remains uncertain.

“Of course, we have a plan in our head when he (Shaw) can be ready but you’re always dependent on how the progress will go,” the United manager said.

“You can’t make a suggestion because there are so many factors. A plan can accelerate or slow down,” he added.

Aside from Shaw, Ten Hag is also missing Rasmus Hojlund, Victor Lindelof, and Mason Mount due to injuries.
