Washington Sundar Injury

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s all-rounder, Washington Sundar, has suffered a hamstring injury, forcing him out of IPL 2023.

This marks his third consecutive season marred by injuries, and he will no longer be able to participate in the ongoing IPL season.

Sundar played in seven matches for Sunrisers this season, scoring 60 runs in five innings and contributing to his team’s placement in ninth on the table.

The club has not yet announced a replacement for him, but they wished him a speedy recovery and confirmed his withdrawal from the tournament.

Unfortunately, Sundar has been plagued by a series of fitness concerns and illnesses over the years.

In 2021, he was unable to participate in the second leg of the Indian Premier League due to a finger injury, and a COVID-19 infection kept him out of international cricket following the season’s conclusion.

The following year, he suffered a positive COVID-19 test, forcing him to miss the ODI leg of India’s tour of South Africa in January 2022, while a hamstring injury prevented him from participating in the three-match T20I series at home against the West Indies.

During IPL 2022, Sundar missed four games due to a split webbing in his bowling hand, and last August, he injured his left shoulder while fielding for Lancashire during a county stint, leading to his exclusion from the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe.
