The 30-year-old had six wickets in the 1st innings and three in the second as India defeated England by 106 runs to tie the series at 1-1.
With the win, Bumrah took the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test rankings for a bowler, edging out India’s Ravichandran Ashwin.
England pacer Chris Woakes had nothing but praise for Bumrah, who outlasted the harsh conditions.
“In the last Test match, Jasprit Bumrah was the standout player, he is a world-class player,” Woakes said.
“Across all the formats, he is one of the best if not the best at the moment.”
“It’s great to see fast bowling executed well especially in this condition.”
Bumrah was India’s difference maker, as his heroics earned him the Player of the Match/
Woakes stressed that England should prepare for a tight series against the host team.
“When you’re going to play India, obviously India will be the favorites,” Woakes said.
“Team England knows what they need to do to compete, and they will see where the series is now, 1-1.”
“The next match will be very important as it is the middle game of the series.”
