2nd T20: Suryakumar & Hooda crush New Zealand

The second-string Indian team outplayed New Zealand in the second T20 International to take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series. Suryakumar Yadav played another master-class knock for team India. 

India registered a comfortable victory over New Zealand in Bay Oval under the leadership of Hardik Pandya.

India wrapped up the kiwi batting lineup for just 126 runs and registered a big win of 65 runs. India now can not lose this 3-match series as the first game was washed out due to rain. 

New Zealand won the toss and made the right decision to bowl first as the pitch was under covers for a long time due to rain.

Ferguson got rid of Rishabh Pant early on for just 6 runs. Ishan Kishan played some good shots but he was also struggling and got caught out after scoring 36 runs off 31 balls.

Shreyas Iyer smashed a six and a four but he also failed to score big and got hit wicket for just 13 runs. 

The SKY show 

On a pitch where all the other batters were struggling, Suryakumar Yadav played an unbelievable knock to showcase his immense talent.

He continued his blistering form and smashed his second T20I hundred of his career.

SKY completed his hundred from just 49 deliveries and remained unbeaten on 111 runs off 51 balls.

The right-hander slammed 11 fours and 7 sixes in his knock at a strike rate of 217.65.

He single-handedly took team India to a winning total with his outrageous 360° shots. 

A Hat-trick from Southee

India was 186-3 at the end of 1o overs and they were eying on 200 but Tim Southee bowled a splendid final over.

The veteran pacer conceded just 5 runs from his over including a brilliant hat-trick.

He dismissed Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda, and Washington Sundar on consecutive deliveries to complete his second T20I hatrick of his career. 

The bowlers delivered for India 

Defending 192 runs, the Indian bowlers were right on the spot with their lines and lengths.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar set the tone by removing the dangerous Finn Allen for a duck in the first over.

The men in blue didn’t allow the Kiwi batters to free their arms and kept picking wickets throughout the innings. 

Kane Williamson was the only batter who scored runs for New Zealand but his strike rate was questionable.

He completed his 50 from 48 balls when the required rate was over 10 runs per over.

Williamson scored 61 runs off 52 balls before getting bowled out by Mohammad Siraj.

New Zealand was bowled out for just 126 runs in the 19th over.

Deepak Hooda picked 4 wickets for just 10 runs while Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammad Siraj scalped two wickets each for team India.
