INDIA GREAT SRIKKANTH SLAMS BCCI FOR GAIKWAD OMISSION
Srikkanth slammed the BCCI after Gaikwad was omitted from India’s T20 World Cup team.
The India cricket great cited Gaikwad’s impressive stint in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024).
Gaikwad, Srikkanth said, is supposed to be part of the team instead of Shubman Gill.
“There’s no doubt that Ruturaj Gakwad deserves a place. He scored more than 500 runs in 17 innings,” Srikkanth said.
“Shubman Gill is selectors’ delight. He gets chance even if he fails,” he added.
Srikkanth later accused the BCCI of favoritism in picking players for the T20 World Cup.
IRFAN PATHAN QUESTIONS RAVI BISHNOI ABSENCE IN WORLD CUP TEAM
Irfan Pathan, a member of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup squad, also questioned the current team’s composition after Ravi Bishnoi was left out.
Pathan cited Bishnoi as No.6 in the world, as the leg-spinner has taken five wickets in nine matches in IPL 2024.
“I am sitting pretty at 6th in the ICC T20i rankings, but not in the World Cup lineup, it’s a tough pill to swallow,” Pathan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Rinku Singh, KL Rahul, and Riyan Parag were also some of the prominent who missed the T20 squad.
FORMER INDIA TEAM STAR OPENER SIDHU SURPRISED BY SINGH’S ABSENCE
Former India cricket team star opener Navjot Singh Sidhu was surprised that Singh was also not part of the team.
Sidhu even compared Singh to cricket legend MS Dhoni.
“Rinlku Singh, the only finisher in Indian cricket who can fill the void left by the great Dhoni,” Sidhu said on X.
Harbhajan noted Singh’s ability to personally change the complexion of a game.
“I feel Rinku Singh should have been included in the team,” he said.
Harbhajan described Singh as a player who has the “potential to change the game on his own.”
