Injury list keeps on growing
Several Madrid players have sustained injuries and are currently sidelined early in the season.
The list includes midfielders Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Dani Ceballos.
Forward Brahim Diaz is the latest to join the injury list after suffering an abductor muscle injury in his right leg during Madrid’s 2-0 win over Real Sociedad.
Diaz will be out for at least two months, according to ESPN.
Meanwhile, Bellingham and Tchouameni will suit up for Los Blancos’ Champions League game with Stuttgart on Tuesday.
Defender Eder Militao is expected to be fit to play on Tuesday after recovering from a muscular injury.
Ancelotti points out at loaded calendar behind injury woes
Speaking in a news conference on Monday, Ancelotti blamed the crammed calendar behind the early season injuries.
“We’ve looked at what we can do, but it’s out of our hands,” Ancelotti said.
“The problem is a calendar that’s too demanding. Now we have a new competition [the Champions League]. We don’t know how it will go, if it will be more entertaining, but the one fact is that we have two extra games.
“I call for people to think about cutting the number of games, to have more attractive competitions.”
