According to sources from Daily Mail, the Al-Nassr forward has reportedly been punished by the Saudi FA.
Cristiano Ronaldo punished – What happened
M88sports reported on the 26th about the imminent punishment that Ronaldo could be landed for his reaction to the Argentina rival’s chants.
Al Shabab fans appeared to mock the Portuguese by singing for Messi throughout the Middle East league fixture, which saw Ronaldo eventually win by 3-2.
The former Real Madrid and Man United superstar responded to such chants by gesturing towards his man-thing in the direction of the home crowd. Such acts from Cr7 received instant criticism, and many predicted a severe punishment would be imminent.
Ronaldo’s punishment details
According to Saudi media, via the Daily Mail, Ronaldo has been hit with:
- A two-match suspension
- an undisclosed fine.
The reported suspension will force Ronaldo to miss Thursday’s league fixture against Al-Hazm. It could also be absent for Al-Nassr’s AFC Champions League quarter-final clash in a week. This will be a massive blow to Ronalod’s side, Al Nassr.
The 39-year-old striker has been playing a key role for his side, scoring 34 goals this season in 35 apps in all competitions.
It is also not the first time Ronaldo has faced backlash over an X-rated gesture, as he avoided punishment for grabbing his crotch back in April 2023.
While the ban details are yet to be finalized, Ronaldo is likely set for a spell on the sidelines. If reports from Saudi Arabia are correct, the Portuguese forward will be back in action on March 7, when Al-Nassr host Al-Raed in the league.
