Serena Williams announces she’s pregnant with second child as the tennis great revealed in an Instagram post ahead of her attendance at the Met Gala.
Serena’s second child
Willams captioned a photo of herself and Alexis Ohanian – her husband and the co-founder of ‘The back page of the internet’ Reddit.
The pair are parents to 5-year-old Olympia, who was given birth in 2017.
Serena is one of the greatest tennis player of the history, having won 23 Grand Slam and even won the 2017 Australian Open while being eight weeks pregnant.
The second child is indeed, the 41-year-old’s words back in August as she announced she desired to expand her family and ‘evolving away’ from tennis.
Williams wrote in an essay on Vouge at that time:
“In the last year, Alexis and I have been trying to have another child, and we recently got some information from my doctor that put my mind at ease and made me feel that whenever we’re ready, we can add to our family,” Williams wrote in the essay.
“I definitely don’t want to be pregnant again as an athlete. I need to be two feet into tennis or two feet out.”
Will Williams continue to conquer tennis?
The American tennis player will have to wait a bit more until she can win her 24th major title with the second child.
Last year in US Open 2022, she reached as far as the third round, beating second-seeded Anett Kontaveit before eventually bowed out after losing to Ajla Tomljanovic.
Williams will attempt to tie with Margaret Court – the current holder of most record (24).
